Simulate and Check Against a Requirement
Run an action flow, study its spread of time and cost, and record whether it meets a requirement.
- Open the Action Diagram and choose ▶ Simulate ▾ → Discrete Event, or open Behavior → Simulator and choose the root action.
- Check the settings: speed, whether decisions are automated or prompt you, and optional duration variation.
- Press ▶ Play (or ⏭ Step, ⏩ Run to End). Running actions are highlighted; watch the Gantt Chart, Total Time and Total Cost panels.
- Switch to Monte Carlo, set the iterations and press ▶ Run Monte Carlo. Read the Statistics, Time and Cost Bar Charts and the Cumulative Probability (S-Curve) panels.
- Click Check Against Requirement…. Pick the output (total time, total cost, a resource or a script value), set the criterion (≤ or ≥ a value, or a Measure's threshold), the requirement and the required probability.
- Read P(meet) with its 95% confidence interval and the Pass or Fail result, then Record Result…: the mean goes to the Measure and a Test Case that verifies the requirement is created or updated with Passed or Failed, as one undo step.
- Use Export Results… to save the run as an Artifact; reopen it from Saved Results ▾.
Costs come from Cost entities incurred by actions; resources from seizes, produces and consumes relationships.
