Export a whole project
- Holarch project file (.json): the complete project: items, relationships, diagrams, documents, baselines, comments, history and Home preferences, with attachments and pictures embedded. The file is self-contained, and its format is documented.
- Every project member can export, viewers included. Open Home ▾ → Export Project…, or Export this project… in Manage Projects.
- Import the file into any Holarch server to get the same project back.
- Project files work for LML and SysML v2 projects.
Other formats
| Format | What it holds |
|---|---|
| SysML v2 text (.sysml) | The whole model or one package of a SysML v2 project, in the standard textual notation. Several packages download as a zip. |
| SysML v2 JSON (.json) | The flat element list with element ids that the Systems Modeling API uses. |
| ReqIF 1.2 | Requirements with every attribute, their relationships and the document hierarchy, for requirements tools. |
| CSV and Excel (.xlsx) | Database tables and definitions, relationship and traceability matrices, the RVTM, history, comments and the registers. |
| Word (.docx), Markdown, HTML and PDF | Documents, reports, ICDs and test procedures. PDF through the browser's print dialog. |
| PNG, SVG and PowerPoint | Diagrams, charts and slides; whiteboards also as JPG and PDF. |
| Project package (.inno) | A zip of chosen items with their relationships, diagrams, comments, schema and attached files. |
| Schema (.json) | The project's classes, relations, attributes and labels. |
XMI is import only. Import and export formats lists every format with its limits.
API and MCP
- The REST API reads your projects' items, relationships, documents, versions, model checks and quality results with a personal access token, and creates and changes items with a read-and-write token.
- For SysML v2 projects, the API also returns the model's elements and its SysML v2 text, and other SysML v2 tools read the elements through the Systems Modeling API (read only).
- AI tools such as Claude connect over MCP. Their changes arrive as proposals you review.
- Tokens act within your project roles and can be limited to chosen projects. See API and MCP.
Attachments
- Files you attach, entity images and pictures are stored with the project and embedded in the project file when you export it.
- A file no project uses any more is deleted 30 days after its last use.
Versions and baselines
- Holarch keeps automatic versions for the days of the project owner's plan: 7 days on Free, 90 on Individual and 365 on Team. Within that time it keeps the last 20 saves and one a day.
- Baselines are part of the project, so version history never removes them. Each baseline exports as a JSON file, and a comparison of two versions exports as CSV or Excel.
- Deleted items stay in the project's Trash for 30 days and can be restored with their relationships.
Deleting projects and your account
- A deleted project stays in the Trash for 30 days. Then it is deleted with its versions and attachments.
- Deleting your account closes it at once. Projects you share with others stay with them.
- Your account record and the projects only you belong to are kept for one year for record-keeping, then deleted. In that year nobody can open those projects. Backups expire within 30 days.
- To have your information deleted sooner, email [email protected]. See the Privacy Policy.
Self-hosting
The Enterprise plan runs Holarch in your own authorized environment, with Claude through your own Anthropic account and your own AI policies. Contact us.
Leaving Holarch
- Export each project as a Holarch project file. It keeps everything, attachments included.
- Export what other tools read: SysML v2 text or JSON for SysML v2 tools, ReqIF for requirements tools, Excel or CSV for spreadsheets and Word for documents.
- Delete your projects, or delete your account under Account Settings.
Exports work on every plan. When a paid plan ends, your projects stay and can still be exported.
