Budgets & TPMs

Rolls resource budgets up the system structure with contingency and margins, and tracks technical performance measures over time.

Where to find it

  • In the navigation rail: Architecture → Budgets & TPMs.
  • Tabs Budget and TPMs (budgets/tpm).

Main actions

  • Budget: root asset, quantity, unit, required margin % and contingency by basis (defaults 15 / 10 / 3 %). Each item's value comes from an attribute with the quantity's name, else a Characteristic with that name that specifies it, else (for cost) the Cost entities it incurs.
  • Count: the decomposition's multiplicity (from the BDD; a range counts its upper bound), else the item's Quantity attribute, else 1. Parents show the sum of their parts times their own count.
  • Units are converted when summed; a value of a different kind (power in a mass budget) is flagged ⚠ and left out.
  • Allocation and margin: Margin = allocation − (CBE + contingency); ✕ Over, ▲ Low, and ⚠ when child allocations exceed the parent's.
  • TPMs: Measures labeled TPM (Show All Measures lists all), with Current Estimate, Threshold, Objective, Improvement Direction and Tolerance. + Milestone adds planned values; Take Snapshot and the automatic history record the estimate.
  • Export XLSX (top bar) writes the current tab.

Tips

  • Rollup… in the inspector and the Hierarchy diagram use the same counts.
  • TPM breaches appear on Home and as a badge on Architecture.
