Budgets and TPMs in SysML v2 Projects

Budgets & TPMsTechnical Performance Measure A key technical parameter, such as mass or power, tracked over time against its target and threshold. works as in LMLLifecycle Modeling Language An open modeling language with a small set of classes and relationships that covers a system's whole lifecycle. Holarch models are LML models. projects: it rolls a quantity such as mass or power up the parts of the model, with contingency, allocations and margins, and tracks technical performance measures.

Roll up a budget

  • Open Architecture → Budgets & TPMs. Click Select Root Part… and choose a part usage (such as fleet.sedan) or a part definition.
  • Under Quantity, enter the attribute name: Mass reads mass, Power reads power, Power Draw reads powerDraw. The list offers the attributes with values.
  • The tree has the part's own parts and the parts its definition brings. A part that redefines an inherited one replaces it, so part redefines battery { … } counts once, with its own values.
  • Count is the part's multiplicity: [2] counts 2, a range such as [0..1] its upper bound, [0] nothing. Without one, a redefining part takes the multiplicity of the part it redefines; otherwise it counts 1. Enter a count to set the multiplicity.
  • Unit Value is the attribute's value, evaluated by the model with its units, its own or its definition's: attribute redefines mass = 48 [kg]; replaces the inherited value. Editing it changes the value where the attribute is declared, or adds a redefining attribute to the part; it shows in the text and is one undo step.
  • Basis, contingency, Allocation, the required margin and the display unit are stored with the project, not in the text. Export XLSX exports the budget.

Track TPMs

  • The TPMs tab lists the Measures with the TPM label, as in LML projects: current estimate, threshold, objective, planned profile and history. Measures are Holarch items; link one to the parts it measures in its Trace section.
